MaXhosa Africa Makes a Landmark Debut on the Paris Fashion Week Runway

There are fashion shows that introduce a collection, and then there are fashion shows that announce a presence. MaXhosa Africa’s Paris Fashion Week debut belonged to the second category. At the South African ambassador’s residence in Paris, Laduma Ngxokolo sent 54 looks down the runway for his first appearance on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, bringing with him more than a decade of work built around knitwear, Xhosa heritage and the possibilities of African luxury. The setting mattered, but so did what happened inside it. This was not an African designer borrowing Paris as a backdrop. It was a South African brand arriving in one of fashion’s most established rooms with its own visual language already fully formed.

London Fashion Week SS27 Proved Beauty Is Better When It Refuses to Behave

London Fashion Week has always had a particular relationship with beauty. It rarely asks for perfection, and Spring/Summer 2027 was no different. Across the city’s runways, makeup and hair moved between restraint and excess, bare lashes against saturated lips, skin turned almost metallic, sculptural updos and wigs that transformed the wearer in an instant. Beauty was not treated as a finishing touch to the clothes. It became part of the visual language of the collections.

Zargue’sia Is Bringing Grandeur Back to Fashion

In a world increasingly enamoured with quiet luxury, Zimbabwean fashion house Zargue’sia is unafraid of grandeur. Abena Bambi Wants to Build a Fashion Business That Outlives the Feed

Abena Bambi has not posted an image that misreads her audience in years, and that consistency is precisely what makes the next stage of her career worth examining closely. Every campaign has been polished, legible, and recognisably feminine, built around a visual grammar that rarely strays far from the one she established when she started. The travel, the hair, the tennis looks, and the soft-life staging have meanwhile become some of the most efficiently constructed lifestyle content coming out of Accra, and the distance between the ease she performs and the discipline required to produce it is the most revealing thing happening around her right now.

Venus Williams Wants to Change the Way We Think About Home

Venus Williams has spent most of her life being watched in motion. On a tennis court, every step has consequence, where you stand, how much space you leave, the angle of your body, the distance between yourself and the person across the net. It is a life built around reading space before anyone else does. So perhaps it makes sense that, away from the court, Williams became obsessed with another kind of spatial intelligence. She founded V Starr Interiors in 2002, turning an instinct for proportion, atmosphere and movement into a design practice. Now, with her first furniture and décor collection for Crate & Barrel and Crate & Kids, she is taking that relationship with space somewhere more intimate, into the home.

The Emmys Were About Television, But the Red Carpet Was a Lesson in Style

Television’s significant night was always going to be about the shows, the performances and the trophies, but by the time the stars reached the blue carpet at the 78th Emmy Awards, the conversation had already shifted. Fashion had its own ceremony to conduct. Los Angeles became a moving catalogue of couture, sharp tailoring, polished beauty and carefully engineered silhouettes, with celebrities arriving at the Peacock Theater looking less like attendees and more like characters entering another world. The carpet was not particularly interested in excess for excess’s sake. Instead, it revealed a growing appetite for clothes that understood the value of restraint, construction and presence.
