This year, fashion trends took a turn for utilitarian with cargo pants, redefined denim, and wearable silhouettes all endorsed by the 2023 shows. That’s not to say that this year is boring style-wise. Dramatic hem lengths and silver metallics were still part of the sartorial picture, albeit in more practical iterations than ever before.
Another month has come and gone, and we’re thrilled to report that this one was especially chic. Boasting Christmas-esque ensembles, red carpet-ready couture, and modish fashion pieces inspired by the summer weather, December had it all! Much like every other month in 2023, multiple entertainment events propelled the stars to dress to the nines.
Locally, we had the highly anticipated launch of the international makeup brand NARS, for which an all-black soirée was hosted. Award-winning digital creator, Mihlali Ndamase looked dreamy in a black doll dress with a flower appliqué. Media personality K Naomi looked stunning in the cutest bump fit comprising a black mini dress, stilettos, and a pair of stockings as a fashion statement.
Furthermore, multi-award-winning musician Cassper Nyovest’s luxurious all-white themed birthday party saw media personalities Boity Thulo and Kefilwe Mabote look summertime fine, draped in beach-inspired ensembles.
Overseas, there was plenty to marvel about at the Academy Awards Gala’s red carpet which saw voguish gowns adorned by stars such as Kendall Jenner and Rachel Zelger, among others.
