The 2026 BET Awards once again proved why it remains Culture’s Biggest Night, bringing together music, film, sport and entertainment’s brightest stars for an unforgettable celebration at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by comedian and content creator Druski, this year’s ceremony balanced humour, emotional tributes, standout performances and, of course, a red carpet filled with memorable fashion moments.

 

Before the first award was handed out, all eyes were on the arrivals. As always, the BET Awards red carpet delivered a showcase of individuality, confidence and creativity.

 

Doechii embraced contemporary elegance with an earthy-inspired ensemble that reflected her fearless approach to fashion, while Olandria Carthen turned heads in a sultry, proving she is quickly becoming one of the evening’s breakout style stars.

Janet Jackson also commanded attention on the carpet, effortlessly blending sophistication with her signature edge. Her appearance served as another reminder of why she continues to influence generations of artists, both on stage and through fashion.

Inside the venue, the celebrations continued with memorable performances and emotional tributes honouring some of the biggest names in Black entertainment. One of the night’s defining moments came during the celebration of Ms. Lauryn Hill, who received the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award following an all-star tribute featuring artists including Doechii, SZA, Nas, Queen Latifah and Doja Cat.

The evening also belonged to Teyana Taylor, who emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night. In addition to receiving the prestigious Icon of the Year Award from Janet Jackson, Taylor collected several honours, including Best Actress, Fashion Vanguard Award and Video Director of the Year, further cementing her status as one of the industry’s most influential multi-hyphenate creatives.

Other notable winners included Cardi B, who was named Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Kendrick Lamar, who took home Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Kehlani, who won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Leon Thomas, who secured Best Male R&B/Pop Artist for the second consecutive year, and Doechii and SZA, who shared the BET Her Award.

 

From bold fashion statements to career-defining victories, the 2026 BET Awards once again highlighted the richness and diversity of Black excellence across music, film and entertainment. Blending emerging stars with cultural icons, the ceremony continues to unite generations while celebrating the creativity, influence and impact shaping the culture today.
