We have a chat with Lynn about her favourite things from architectural motifs to self-care regimen essentials.
My home
Infused with my personality, my home tells the story of who I am, the people and things I love and my interests. My home is my haven; when at home, I’m at peace.
I bought this piece of cloth while on vacation in Bali, believing it was authentic Indonesian batik fabric. I have subsequently learned that I bought a piece of batik print but I love it anyway because it brings back good memories and I love the vibrant colours! The picture is of me while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2018.
Kiernan’s face on my neck
Zinhle had this made for me just days after Kiernan’s assassination. It makes me feel as if he is always with me, it’s very special to me and I almost never take it off.
Who doesn’t love candles! I most definitely do and even more so if it’s 100% soy wax candles, handcrafted by my sister who lives in Cape Town. My personal favourite from her range is called “Afri-Sunset”, a combination of blood-orange, cinnamon and vanilla; a fragrance that feeds my African soul.
I visit my medical aesthetics doctor on a regular basis to treat my hyperpigmentation but for everyday skincare at home, I trust Luminous 630, the #1 ingredient for reducing the appearance and reappearance of age spots and dark marks. I’m living my #LuminousLife!
I bought the entire range of Naked Without makeup when I attended the launch with Nadia and fell in love with it. I love how smooth and lightweight the foundation application is and it stays put for hours. The setting spray has a subtle shimmer which makes my skin glow and I love it!
I’ve been an Era girl for the longest time with the black Diva being my go-to shades for all occasions. I have a collection of sunglasses but guess which pair you are most likely to catch me wearing?
I am a Cancerian, ruled by the moon! This moon lamp was a gift from my sister, Trudy and I love the fact that I now have access to the full moon whenever I choose. It’s a stunning, soothing light that brings tranquillity into my home and mimic’s the moon’s natural light with its different settings.
After I lost my older sister during Covid, one of her small Sansevieria plants came home with me after her funeral. It was my first and it turned out to be the perfect house plant. I have now propagated that one plant into a few more and they are in almost every room in my house. Snake plants are good indoor air filters and mental health boosters. I love having them in my home.
My handcarved wooden Saraswati sculpture is another purchase from Bali. Saraswati, an important goddess in Balinese Hinduism and is associated with knowledge, wisdom, creative arts, learning and purity. She is a symbolic reminder for me to strive for endless knowledge and wisdom in my everyday life.
I’m a nature lover and with these bird feeders attached to the outside of my windows, I always have birds visiting. I enjoy bird watching from the comfort of my home while getting on with my everyday life.
