Since its formidable inception in 2011, South African luxury fashion brand, MAXHOSA AFRICA has been on a winning streak. From showcasing at various fashion shows across the globe to its pieces being adorned by the likes of Michelle Obama, the brand’s star just keeps shining brighter. Taking things up a notch, MAXHOSA made its debut at the prestigious Paris Fashion with a never-seen-before collection.

Dubbed “My Conviction”, the collection featured various pieces that are true to the brand’s patterning DNA, while also appealing to the modern fashion consumer. Pops of colour and ultramodern cuts dominated the park in MAXHOSA’s collection, which is undisputedly a great addition to their classic capsule collections.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the collection, founder and creative director, Laduma Ngxokolo expressed that his conviction to make the brand a global success was the main driving force.
“Since I started my journey into the fashion industry in 2011 when I established a fashion brand that is known as MAXHOSA, my conviction was quite straightforward. My ultimate objective as a design professional was to establish a luxury institution that aimed to showcase culture, greatness, and beauty of the African continent. While doing so, play a major part in growing the African fashion economy”, shared Ngxokolo.
Furthermore, the designer also expressed the fulfillment of having established an institution that is true to African culture and has allowed him to give back to the community by creating employment opportunities.
“It gives me a great sense of fulfillment to wake up every day and realise that I am living my conviction, and still be humble enough to know that we are only in the beginning stages of the journey of our conviction. Through a simple, yet dynamic concept of initially reinterpreting traditional Xhosa beadwork patterns and motifs into modern fashion premium pieces, that we later infuse subtlely with other African aesthetics. We have built a cultural luxury institution that is home to 300 professionals who are in permanent job positions, who passionately serve in our production, retail, and operations departments and facilities”, he stated.
MAXHOSA’s collection has been well received by the global community and has earned the brand yet another VOGUE magazine feature. With a Paris Fashion Week debut and a flagship store set to open in New York this year, it is safe to assume that it’s only up from here for MAXHOSA AFRICA.
