Celebrated South African fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee enters the world of fine fragrances with the launch of his debut perfume collection, available exclusively through Foschini, Beauty Box and Bash.
Known for defining South African high fashion and dressing global icons for nearly two decades, Coetzee’s entry into beauty with a collection of six new fragrances marks a new milestone for the brand.
BORN IN GRASSE, FRANCE
Developed by Coetzee, the collection stems from a personal journey to Grasse, France – the world’s historic capital of perfume. Immersing himself in centuries-old perfumery traditions and working alongside master perfumers, Coetzee spent time studying and exploring fine perfume oils.
This sensory pilgrimage served as the foundation for six distinct and evocative eau de parfums each designed to capture different moods and moments.
“Creating these fragrances was a journey of artistic discovery,” says Gert-Johan Coetzee. “In Grasse, I fell in love with the craft of fine perfumery. It wasn’t about following trends, but rather taking the time to refine every note until it perfectly captured a specific emotion and story I wanted to tell.”
THE COLLECTION: A SCENT FOR EVERY MOOD
Each eau de parfum is available in 50ml and 100ml bottles:
● Gimme Gimme is sweet, playful and addictive. Sugared notes and tagete open the fragrance before unfolding into a warm heart of amber, floral accords and clove, grounded by moss and musk.
● Eau de Trouble is bold, flirtatious and irresistible. Orange, anise and almond lead into a floral heart of rose, jasmine and orange blossom, with caramel, vanilla, tonka bean and musk adding warmth and sensuality.
● Rumours & Roses is romantic, smoky and intriguing. Raspberry, blackberry, tangerine and baie rose are layered with rose, chamomile and a smoked accord before settling into patchouli, agarwood, cedarwood and musk.
● Top Secret is mysterious, sophisticated and powerful. Turkish and Damask rose are sharpened with saffron and black pepper, while amber and oud wood create a rich, warm and quietly commanding finish.
● Shhhh… is soft, sweet and seductive. Pink berries, cotton candy, bergamot and elemi meet jasmine, honey and tonka bean, with ambery woods, cedarwood, labdanum, patchouli and vanilla creating a lasting impression.
● Uncontainable is fearless, confident and unapologetic. Cardamom, carrot and fig open the scent, followed by sandalwood, iris, cedarwood and cashmere wood, while musk, amber, papyrus and leather give it depth and strength.
