Fashion Radar: South African Singing Sensation Tyla’s Astounding Milan Fashion Week Debut
Voguish designs dominated the catwalk at the Milan Fashion Week exhibition, with luxury fashion houses showcasing their best collections to some of the entertainment industry’s A-listers.
Among the stars in attendance was South African pop-amapiano star, Tyla. Flying the South African flag high, the songbird made the most of her awe-inspiring Milan Fashion Week debut by sitting in the front row of Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway show. The 21-year-old singing sensation adorned a metallic silver bustier mini dress, matched with silver stilettos – courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana. Inspired by a fashion icon, Tyla’s dress was similar to the one adorned by Lady Gaga on the cover art of her 2009 record-breaking single “Paparazzi.” Tyla’s vintage ’90s look was on trend for the highly anticipated exhibition, which comprised various nostalgic fashion styles.
Furthermore, the rising superstar was seated next to media mogul Kim Kardashian who is the face of D&G’s Spring/Summer collections. Tyla took to Twitter to share pictures of herself posing with Kim K who adorned a jewelled red vintage dress by Dolce & Gabbana.
The “Getting Late” hit-maker is among a handful of African artists signed to acclaimed US record label Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, and is currently promoting her latest single, “Been Thinking.”
Moreover, Tyla has recently been the opening act for R&B star Chris Brown during the European leg of his “Under The Influence” tour. The tour commenced in Dublin before hitting London, Birmingham, Paris, and, most recently, Zurich.
After the show, she got to attend a star-studded exclusive dinner outside the iconic Duomo di Milano, where she mingled with Kim Kardashian, J Balvin, Ashley Graham, June Ambrose, and other A-list attendees, including top International Editors in Chief, notable stylists, and market editors.
Tyla also snagged the opportunity of a lifetime as she got to perform at the D&G after-party, outfitted in another stunning bustier from Kim Kardashian’s Spring Ready-to-Wear collaboration collection – courtesy of the luxury fashion house.
