On Monday night in New York City, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) presented its annual Fashion Awards at the American Museum of Natural History. It’s one of the biggest events of the year for industry insiders and creatives, as the ceremony aims to promote US designers on a global stage.
November started on a high note with Soweto Fashion Week launching its Spring/ Summer 23/24 collections. The Soweto Theatre was turned into a fashion frenzy with the Be Beautiful Hair pink carpet rolled out for the guests. The three-day fashion week ran from November 2 – 4. Before the main event, a glamorous launch soirée was hosted where the media and VIP guests were introduced to some of the designers showcasing this season.
After completing his studies in fashion design at the Tshwane University of Technology, haute couture extraordinaire Orapeleng Modutle had the privilege of interning at Khensani Nkosi’s ‘Stoned Cherry’, and as they say, the rest is history. Over the past decade, Modutle has built a stellar brand by designing show-stopping bridal garments, as well as stunning ensembles for the who’s who of African entertainment.
