When it comes to fashion, 2023 is the gift that keeps on giving! Adding to this year’s fashion jazz, Swedish fashion brand, H&M and high-end designer brand Paco Rabanne have launched their highly anticipated collaboration. The Rabanne x H&M collaboration fuses futuristic design with innovative craftsmanship, with the collection simultaneously drawing on the iconic 1960s creations of the house’s late founder Paco Rabanne, re-energised since 2013 by creative director Julien Dossena.

Spanning womenswear, menswear, and accessories as well as a home décor capsule with H&M Home, the collection launches on 9 November and will be available in South Africa at H&M Sandton City, H&M V&A Waterfront and online through Superbalist.com. The collection takes revolutionary, dancefloor-destined style to a new dimension, blending iconic chainmail and glittering sequins with easy sportswear and slick tailoring.

Moreover, the collection has been crafted in long-lasting, high-quality fabrics with premium qualities of wool appearing in accessories, outerwear, and knitwear. Key pieces for women include archival-inspired metallic mesh skirts and mirrored paillette dresses, alongside leopard-print jersey dresses. For men, sequined turtlenecks turn heads alongside luxe loungewear. In accessories, a contemporary take on Rabanne’s iconic paillette and metallic mesh jewellery steal the spotlight, along with sequined pool-slides. Meanwhile, the H&M Home capsule combines statement-making metallic furniture with sculptural accessories.

As part of the anticipated collaboration with Rabanne, H&M is also presenting a captivating short film directed by the award-winning filmmaker Xavier Dolan, who worked closely with Rabanne’s Julien Dossena. The film showcases the cutting-edge collection in an epic, Sci-Fi-infused setting defined by a dance-all-night party atmosphere. Starring a collective of top models, including Anok Yai and Noma Han, as well as the model and actor Rianne Van Rompaey, the TikTok star Vinnie Hacker, and the actor Issa Perica, the film encapsulates the high-energy spirit of the collection. Locally, singing sensation Elaine adorned a piece of the collection for her October cover of Glamour magazine’s digital issue.
