The who’s who of fashion gathered in Cape Town last week for the 2023 SA Menswear Week (SAMW) two-day extravaganza, hosted on the 29th and the 30th of September. Over the years, South African Menswear Week has been Africa’s only stand-alone platform dedicated to the development and promotion of menswear within the African continent. Taking place twice annually, SAMW aims to provide a world-class platform for menswear designers and brands to showcase their latest collections.

This year’s shows were held at Wonderland Film Studios in the Mother City. The show was both well organised and attended with Imprint and Ezokhetho being among the well-known fashion brands to showcase their work.

Modelled heavily on the world’s leading platform, London Fashion Week Men’s, SAMW takes place each season within interesting, unexplored settings, with show spaces seating no more than 400 people, and clean, simple show production with nothing to detract from the clothing. Over the years, their partnership with the platform has seen leading SA designers eventually showcase in London, both as a drive to build exports, but also more importantly awareness of these brands back home in South Africa.

Ahead, we compiled a gallery of some of the best looks from the SAMW 2023 showcases.
