Meet fashion enthusiast and digital creator, Thato Mosikili who is a partisan of indulging in life’s simplest pleasures. Crowned Miss Teen Gauteng in 2019, Thato is an aspiring model with dreams of doing great things on the global stage. A minimalist at heart, the fashion enthusiast’s style can be defined as chic with a dash of glamour.

For Thato, true happiness and fulfillment are not defined by material possessions. Instead, they are measured by the intangible.

“My favourite things in life right now are kind of don’t come in stores and don’t have a price tag,” shares the digital creator.

We have a chat with Thato Mosikili who shares her favourite things with us, from her much-loved Swiitchbeauty #SuperBalm emollient lip rescue and #LipSlick lip treatment oil to the lost art of uninterrupted sleep.

Hybrid-Training, so my gym membership + the great outdoors

Fitness and Health became my new obsession over the past few months, and when I began – it was one thing or the other. I took a keen interest in weight-lifting because my ultimate life goal is to build muscle and be strong, so trust me when I say this: no one (and I mean no one), hates cardio the way that I do. This year I found a new love for distance running and high impact group training.

I realised my heart health and endurance matter just as much as strength, and also you’re running outside you really have no choice but to finish, lol. My regime consists of 4 weight-lifting days, 2 outdoor runs (I joined a run club for the second run), 3 yoga sessions and at-least one HIIT gym-class. My New Year’s commitment is to hike at least once a month – it’s a lot but I love moving.

My commitment to reading

I’ve made a commitment to readi at least one non-fiction book a month. Right now it’s 12 Week Year
by Brain P. Morgan and Michael Lennington. New year’s resolutions are cool, right? But results are better. Gone are the years of forgotten goals and vision boards turned to pipe-dreams. I’m learning, through 12 Week Year, to structure my life and focus in on a set number of goals for a fixed period of 12 weeks, and keeping myself accountable by tracking my progress. It’s really worth the read, and even more so worth implementing.

The “dumb-phone” movement, minimalist tech

We’re entering such a beautiful era where a collective of people are starting to realise how addictive these small rectangles are, how deeply they eat into our productivity, and how much they affect our self-perception and self-worth. Switching on “DND” and Assistive Access does the trick for me.

Notion Digital Planner

I have many thoughts, plans, dreams, and ideas — when the notes app became overwhelming, Notion saved me. Organising my ideas, plans and workflow — and tracking my progress of course, has honestly never been easier. The best part is finding templates for everything online, my favourite uses include: Budget Templates, Social Media Planners, a 75-hard Tracker, a 12 Week Year Template and Daily Journals.

Okay okay, finally — tangible things. *laughs*

My mini transferrable bag organiser

There’s something so satisfying about being the ‘mom’ in the friend group. Hand-lotion? I’ve got you. Nail clippers? Pain killers? Mints? Pads? Lipstuff? Floss? Somewhere in my little bag organiser full of everything I think anyone could ever need in a mini-emergency, I’ve got you! Evidently, it’s stressful when I have go to anywhere that requires an outfit with a small hand-bag, my daily handbag is nothing smaller than a sizeable tote.

My Apple ecosystem

Yes wena seamless integration and information transfer. As a creator, and a fitness-enthusiast – these three devices are essential. This comprises my iPhone 13 Pro, AirPod Pros and the M1 MacBook Air. And no, I don’t want to upgrade any of them (yet), there’s no need! And yes, of course I love my Apple Watch too but it’s not essential, but I don’t sleep or wake-up without it either. I know, dumb-tech but I depend on all of these daily, it’s ultimately about learning balance.

Sleep, but sleep with satin pillowcases

For my acne-prone skin, for chemically ‘damaged’ hair — and waking up with no sleep creases, these are my absolute must. I travel with them too! Can’t be caught slipping even on a trip.

#SuperBalm emollient lip rescue and #LipSlick lip treatment oil

Swiitchbeauty everything to be completely honest. My lips? Never dry. I have like 10 lip-therapy products in different places that I frequent and I’m not ashamed, despite my best friend calling me crazy for it.

FENTY Beauty’s Hella Thicc Mascara

I have actually not used a better mascara, EVER. It’s volumizing, lengthening, and it (actually) does not clump. In second and third place is the Mac Stack Mascara and Maybelline’s Sky High Mascara.

2-litre Motivational Water Bottle

Granted, I’m not the biggest fan of plastic water bottles, let alone plastic straws — but this does it for me. My only plight is only drinking one bottle of water a day. Drink more water!
