Even though the beauty world is still mourning the closure of the acclaimed Ami Colé, there’s an exciting new chapter ahead for its founder, Diarrha N’Diaye. She has just been appointed executive vice president of Skims Beauty, marking the brand’s official leap into the beauty and fragrance space.
Kim Kardashian and Skims cofounder Jens Grede are leading this expansion, and it’s clear they’re serious about assembling a powerhouse team. In her new role, N’Diaye will oversee product development, innovation, and brand strategy, bringing her signature focus on inclusivity, community-driven design, and authentic representation to Skims Beauty.
“Kim will lead the vision, but we dance so beautifully together,” N’Diaye shared with Cosmopolitan. “I will be working to bring the products to a world where everyone feels they can relate. Fashion can feel aspirational, but for beauty, we also want it to feel accessible.”
Until now, Skims has been celebrated for its shapewear, loungewear, and underwear, becoming a multibillion-rand empire. But with the brand now venturing into beauty, the timing—and team—couldn’t be more fitting. With N’Diaye on board, her celebrated approach to inclusive shade ranges and advocacy for diversity promises to shape Skims Beauty into a space where representation matters.
N’Diaye’s approach to product creation is rooted in curiosity and community. “Growing up in my mum’s hair salon in Harlem, which has been there for over 40 years, I heard people sharing tips, and I’d find the common denominator and the gaps in the market,” she told Cosmopolitan. “Now my hair salon is the internet, Reddit, trade shows like CosmoProf, and even walking the streets of Brooklyn, observing what people wear and connecting the dots.”
Kim shares the excitement, telling WWD, “I want Skims Beauty to be a place where everyone feels represented, and there is no better person to help us do that than Diarrha.”
With N’Diaye’s vision and Skims’ platform, this new beauty venture is one to watch—and it’s safe to say the beauty world won’t be waiting quietly.
