Juliet Ibrahim isn’t just a household name; she’s a continent-wide force. Actress, filmmaker, author, compere, entrepreneur, and now a proud graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Communications from Berkeley College in New Jersey, USA: she continues to defy expectations with grace, grit, and glitter. From the silver screen (starring in over 50 films across West Africa) to humanitarian work through her Juliet Ibrahim Foundation, Juliet moves with purpose all while championing African stories and standing tall (in heels, no less) as a symbol of multifaceted African womanhood.

For our
new Africa focused series, we step into Juliet’s world. From her cultural hotspots in Accra and rain-soaked walks in London, to the Afrobeats-fuelled playlists that soundtrack her life. With a heart rooted in unity and a spirit that thrives across borders, she reflects on the continent’s artistic legacy, her favourite Ghanaian dish, and the one superpower that would make her unstoppable (spoiler: she already kind of is).

This is Africa, according to Juliet Ibrahim — bold, boundless, and beautifully in bloom.

1. What city are you currently in and what do you love most about this city?

I’m currently in London — the city of rain, tricky weather, red buses, royalty, and endless style! What do I love most? The blend of cultures! You can walk down one street and feel like you’re on a global food and fashion runway. Also, I get to wear cute trench coats, so, I’m not complaining!

2. Your favourite hangout spot in your hometown is?

Accra will always be home and when I’m there, you’ll probably find me chilling at Skybar, Exhale Lounge, Bourbon restaurant, or somewhere by the beach. I’m a sucker for a good view, vibes, good food, and fresh coconut water — or wine, depending on the mood!

3. Name an African song that would be the soundtrack to your life.

Easy! “Particula” by Major Lazer, DJ Maphorisa, Ice Prince, Patoranking, Jidenna & Nasty C. That song gives international-Afro-glam-energy… just like me! It’s got bounce, it’s got soul, an exotic mix and it’s a whole mood.

4. What African artists are currently on your music playlist?

Oh, my playlist is popping! I’ve got StoneBwoy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Black Sherif, King Promise, Tiwa Savage, Kidi, Seyi Vibez, Olive the Boy, and Asake, to name just a few! I love supporting African artists who are unapologetically owning their sound and making global waves.

5. What’s your one wish for Africa?

Unity! A united Africa has always been my dream. I wish to see an Africa where borders feel invisible — where we trade, collaborate, and love across cultures without limits and language barriers. As Africans, we’re stronger together, and this is the time for us to realise that the future is African!

6. What would you say is the biggest artistic impact Africa has had on the world?

Africa gave the world rhythm, colour, storytelling, and soul. From Afrobeats to African Cinema, to fashion trends, our artistic DNA is everywhere. Just scroll through social media now or attend Fashion Week, or even the recent MET GALA and you’ll see us sparkling through!

7. What is that one African dish you wish the entire world knew about?

Ohhh that’ll be Waakye with spicy pepper sauce and some eggs and avocado!

8. What does your name mean?

Juliet means “youthful,” and in some other ways “ beauty of womanhood” and Ibrahim means “father of many.” I guess I was born to be beautiful, young at heart, and lead with love. How poetic is that?

9. If you had one superpower what would it be and why?

Teleportation! Imagine shooting a movie in South Africa, attending a premiere in LA, and then zipping back home to Ghana for some fufu and palm nut soup — all in one day. Time zones wouldn’t stand a chance and because I love traveling I’ll be living my best life!

10. If you weren’t a famous actress what would you be?

Probably a glamorous and famous lawyer, A musician, or a translator working at the UN. I’ve always been passionate about making an impact, whether on-screen or in real life. But thankfully, I get to blend it all and still play dress-up for a living. Best of both worlds!
