In a world obsessed with filters and perfection, award-winning media personality and rapper Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena flips the script. For her, beauty isn’t about curated ideals—it’s rooted in authenticity, confidence, and the energy you bring into every room. Whether she’s lighting up stages or leading in boardrooms, she surrounds herself with the real—family, friends, and moments of quiet reflection in nature or prayer—to stay grounded.
As a style chameleon and a fashion it-girl, Moozlie keeps her skincare simple yet serious: sleep, sweat, and consistent self-care—combining internal wellness with go-to staples like CeraVe SPF, cleanser wipes, full-coverage foundation, lash extensions, cuticle oil, gloss and setting spray to maintain that winter glow.

But her beauty ritual isn’t just skin deep—before a shoot, video or red carpet, she starts with hydrated skin, her Catrice hydrating primer, mood‑boosting music (hello, “Go‑Getter”), and a prayer or affirmation to anchor her spirit. It’s these intentional rituals—plus vampire facials, dermaplaning, and IV vitamin therapy—that give her the unapologetic, powerful confidence she radiates.
With her recent Catrice collab and #OwnYourMagic campaign, she invites fellow women to embrace their unique power—and it’s no accident: Moozlie continues to redefine beauty standards, elevate representation, and inspire confidence across every stage she steps onto.
In an industry that often celebrates curated perfection, what does beauty mean to you, beyond the surface, and how do you stay grounded in that definition in both your personal life and career?
In an industry that often celebrates curated perfection, beauty to me is about being your true self. Being fully yourself in every moment, no matter how polished or imperfect it may look to the outside world. Real beauty lives in your confidence, kindness, creativity, and resilience. It’s the energy you bring into a room, and the way you share your journey with the world. I like to stay grounded by surrounding myself with people who know me beyond the public figure: my family, my friends, my team – they all remind me of who I am and where I come from.
I also like to take some time off and just reflect – so whether it’s through prayer, meditation or just spending time in nature. In both my personal life and career, I’ve learned that the most powerful thing you can do is show up as your whole, honest self. That’s where the real beauty is.

You’ve been in the spotlight for years, always serving looks. What are some of your tried-and-tested beauty or skincare secrets that you swear by no matter what?
Thank you! I really do love serving a look – it’s part of the fun of what I do. But honestly, when it comes to beauty and skincare, I keep things pretty simple and consistent.
First and foremost: SLEEP!! Because I’m so busy people often think I don’t sleep but trust me, I do. It is so important to let your skin & body rest. You genuinely look & operate better when you’re giving your skin the care it deserves. That includes exercise. Most beauty tips are external and differ for everyone but sleep & exercise give you an internal beauty power that you just can’t duplicate.
Let’s talk about winter beauty! What are your go-to products right now, especially when it comes to keeping your skin protected and your glam on point in the cold?
Winter definitely calls for a little extra beauty TLC. My skin tends to get drier during the colder months, so hydration becomes a top priority. Right now, I’m loving the CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion – it keeps my skin soft, protected, and has the added bonus of SPF 50, which is a must for me year-round, even in winter.
I always start by removing my makeup with Johnson’s Cleansing Micellar Wipesbefore cleansing my face – it’s a simple step that makes a big difference.
When it comes to glam, I usually opt for a full coverage foundation that lasts all day but still lets my skin breathe. I always have my lashes done too – it makes getting ready so much easier, whether I’m going makeup-free or going full glam.
Since my nails are always a moment, I like to keep them nourished with the Glitterbels Pineapple Cuticle Oil – it smells amazing and keeps everything looking fresh.
And of course, I never leave the house without something on my lips – whether it’s a hydrating balm or the Catrice Glossin’ Glow Tinted Lip Oil, it keeps my lips plump, glossy, and glowing.
To finish it all off, a good setting spray is essential – it locks in my look and gives my skin that healthy, radiant winter glow. For me, winter beauty is all about smart layering, deep hydration, and keeping the glow alive no matter the weather.

Whether you’re prepping for a shoot, a music video, or a red carpet moment, what are your personal beauty rituals that help you tap into your most powerful, confident self?
My beauty rituals are all about setting the tone – physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I always start with skincare; a fresh, hydrated base is key. Lately, I’ve been loving the Catrice ‘Glam In Gold’ Hydrating Primer for that extra glow before makeup.
Music sets the mood – whether it’s a chilled track or something like my latest single Go-Getter, it gets me in the right headspace for the event.
For glam, I go for my staples: flawless foundation, a bold eye, black top liner, blush and a glossy lip, depending on the vibe. Before heading out, I pause for a quick prayer or affirmation to stay grounded.
These small rituals help me feel confident and powerful – so when it’s time to show up, I’m not just wearing the look, I’m owning it
Pro Tip: I swear by regular treatments with Dr. Bhabha – including vampire facials, dermaplaning, and anything else she recommends keeping my skin youthful and healthy. I top that off with IV Vitamin Therapy which help nourish your body from the inside out. They’re packed with vitamins, minerals, and everything your body needs to keep glowing and feeling its best.
We recently saw you serving face in your latest Catrice Cosmetics collab! What do you love most about working with the brand, and what does the #OwnYourMagic campaign mean to you personally?
Yesss – I absolutely loved working on my latest collab with Catrice Cosmetics! What I love most is how authentic and empowering the experience has been.
Catrice really celebrates individuality with high-quality, accessible products that let every woman show up as her best self. The #OwnYourMagic campaign speaks to me because it’s all about embracing your power and uniqueness, unapologetically.
It’s also about showing young women that beauty isn’t perfection – it’s confidence, creativity, and owning your space. Whether I’m on stage, on set, or just being Nomuzi, that’s the message I want to live out loud.

As someone who constantly reinvents herself while staying true to her essence, how do you see beauty evolving in the entertainment industry, especially for women who, like you, aren’t afraid to own their magic unapologetically?
Thank you, that really means a lot. Reinvention has always been part of my journey, but the real magic lies in staying true to myself. The beauty space in entertainment is evolving—especially for women who are bold enough to do things their own way. We’re moving beyond one-size-fits-all standards and embracing authenticity, culture, and individuality. As someone who’s constantly pushing boundaries, this shift feels incredibly empowering. It’s creating room for more voices, more stories, and much-needed representation.
That’s why campaigns like #OwnYourMagic are so important. They remind us that beauty is about standing out, owning your uniqueness, and inspiring others to do the same.
I also love how the beauty space has created so many opportunities – especially for makeup artists who are now being recognised and booked by people across the industry. Back in the day, we had to figure this beauty thing out on our own. But now, there’s a whole community of talented artists, many of whom become friends. I really appreciate the evolution of the beauty industry and support system it’s built.
Take my makeup artist, Andi, for example – she’s one of the few people I fully trust with my face. She’s always ready to step in and work her magic. That kind of trust and consistency is priceless.
From music to TV to fashion, you’ve done it all, and then some. What’s next for Moozlie? Any exciting projects, collabs, or chapters you’re manifesting in the near future?
Whew, it’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m grateful for every chapter! From presenting to music, fashion, and brand collabs like with Catrice, I’ve expressed myself in so many ways.
Right now, I’m in a creative flow – I just dropped my new single Go-Getter and am working on some more music. I’m also growing as Moozlie, the personality, and Creative Director at ERA by DJ Zinhle, with more deals in the pipeline.
And personally, I’m just manifesting growth with purpose – more impact, creativity, and joy. What’s next? Big things with even bigger meaning. Stay tuned!
