Ten years ago, Mzukisi Mbane introduced a new voice in fashion. Bold, rooted and unapologetically African, IMPRINT arrived with a message — that fashion could honour memory while shaping the future. Now, to mark a decade of storytelling through design, the brand returns with its anniversary collection, Ndibuyile – Our Roots Revisited.
Meaning “I have returned,” Ndibuyile is a full-circle moment. It revisits the spirit of Mbane’s breakout 2015 collection, Our Roots, which first established IMPRINT’s signature blend of heritage and innovation. This new body of work, shown at SA Menswear Week in Cape Town, honours the silhouettes, prints and energy that built the brand, while reimagining them for the present.

Rich in symbolism and intent, the collection is a love letter to identity, memory and the threads that bind us. It draws from the same inspiration that guides this editorial’s theme — Our Roots: The Stories That Shape Us. It’s a celebration of the languages we speak, the garments passed down through generations, the music and movement that carry us home, even when we’re far from it.

In Ndibuyile, Mbane doesn’t just look back. He brings the past forward, weaving together tradition and transformation. Every piece holds memory. Every print speaks of the journey. Every silhouette feels like a return — to self, to culture, to the stories that raised us.

At ten, IMPRINT is not only a brand with staying power. It’s a living, breathing archive of who we are and who we’re becoming.
