The 2025 Met Gala delivered yet another unforgettable evening of high fashion, as the world’s most stylish figures gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” alongside the fitting dress code, “Tailored for You.”
While countless stars made an impression, a select few truly owned the red carpet, mastering the art of tailoring with precision, flair, and individuality. This year’s co-chairs — A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, and Lewis Hamilton — set a sophisticated tone from the start, each offering a modern interpretation of classic tailoring. From double-breasted suits inspired by Harlem’s streetwear traditions to experimental silhouettes that challenged tradition, suiting became the language through which style spoke loudest.

Among the evening’s best-dressed was Doechii, who turned heads in a custom Louis Vuitton shorts suit that blended streetwear attitude with haute couture craftsmanship. Lupita Nyong’o stunned in a sculptural Balmain ensemble, her look marrying traditional suiting elements with futuristic edge. Rihanna once again dominated the night, arriving fashionably late in a Fenty Maison design — a sharp, deconstructed tuxedo gown layered with exaggerated tailoring details.

Janelle Monáe stayed true to her signature, delivering a monochromatic Thom Browne moment that blurred the lines between art and fashion. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian brought drama in a Chrome Hearts corseted suit-dress hybrid, cinched at the waist with dazzling surrealist touches. Nicki Minaj opted for a vibrant, sculptural ensemble by Marc Jacobs, embracing both tailoring and theatricality in bold measure.

South African supermodels Anok Yai and Adut Akech were undeniable showstoppers — Yai floated up the steps in a sleek, chrome-detailed suit dress by Balenciaga, while Akech glided in a deconstructed Givenchy look that balanced masculinity and elegance. Kendall Jenner delivered a minimalist yet impactful Prada look, favouring sharp cuts and a muted palette.

The men were equally daring: Bad Bunny wore a dramatic Jacquemus suit with an exaggerated cape detail; Stormzy opted for an impeccably tailored Burberry look celebrating Black British style; Tyler, the Creator charmed in a playful custom Louis Vuitton suit complete with oversized tailoring accents.

Adding to the magic were scene-stealing moments from Beyoncé in a dazzling Valentino feathered coat over a sharp tailored jumpsuit, Zendaya in Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano, Cardi B dripping in couture suiting by Burberry, and Megan Thee Stallion, who stunned in a crystal-embroidered Versace power suit.

In a heartfelt moment, Diana Ross floated up the steps in a custom Ugo Mozie cascading gown embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren — reminding everyone that while fashion is often about fantasy, it can also be deeply personal.

This year’s carpet was a masterclass in reinvention, heritage, and pure craftsmanship. From daring silhouettes to classic cuts reimagined, the 2025 Met Gala celebrated the beauty of Black style and the universal appeal of tailoring in its most elevated form.
In a sea of statement-making ensembles, these stars didn’t just meet the brief — they redefined it.
