Mzansi’s entertainment tastemakers lit up the purple carpet at the 129th Hollywoodbets Durban July horse racing event as they envisioned this year’s theme, “Ride the Wave”, with aquatic silhouettes and high fashion pieces at the Greyville Racecourse.
Since its formidable inception, the annual highlight on South Africa’s social and sporting calendar has become equally famous for its fashion as for its racing, with this year’s star-studded line-up of celebrities adding the customary touch of timeless elegance to Africa’s premier horse racing event.
Apart from the stars who get to be heralded for their breathtaking fashion ensembles, the Durban July also spotlighted various talented fashion designers such as MASANGO by Siphesihle, and IMPRINT by Mzukisi Mbane.
MASANGO, who is always pushing the envelope in terms of construction, detail, and interpretation crafted gowns that were donned by Mawhoo, Lameiz Holworthy, and Doro Mongy among other A-listers.
Media personality Jessica Nkosi stunned in an artsy creation by Namibian designer, Ruberto Scholtz which boasted an ocean-esque rendition of the event’s alluring theme. The breathtaking ensemble was pristinely sculptured into a splash of waves around her body.
Multimedia powerhouse Pamela Mtanga stole the show in a spectacular ensemble by popular couture fashion designer, Orapeleng Modutle.
Sithelo Shozi looked like a dream in a stunning gown from fashion designer Owethu Sidoyi, whose rendition of the theme alluded to a serenade of the sea.
Draped in a classic shimmer set, graciously following the theme ‘Ride The Wave’, reality TV star Eva Modika brought some shimmer to the premier entertainment extravaganza in a gorgeous gown from Lera V Design.
