Out of this world: Down to Earth is a photographic series that explores visual storytelling, inspired by comic book graphics, used to further tell the the story of Kisasa Vol.2 — Captured the City of Gold—Johannesburg, South Africa.

A delicious marvel-like we’ve all been craving for, told through the lens of a South African multifaceted photographer, alongside strong collaboration with gifted artists and designers. Kisasa Vol.2 presents a three tier project using print, digital and film medias. Though it is its own rendition, it compliments Volume 1 and adds to a grander vision of King Nandi&Co.

#Projectkisasa as a whole truly embraces King Nandi&Co.’s image as a multimedia organisation on the creation, expression and distribution of mixed Arts and Culture.

TIER 1

The photographic series begins in the deep part of Johannesburg CBD, South Africa where native superheroes have come to pay Earth a visit. They are portrayed with what seems to orbs of both the sun and the moon.

“I wanted them to look otherworldly but human. The idea was to build characters that is beautiful yet fascinating, and contradict the character/s we had in Vol. 1 who looked pristinely perfect by the way. I remember when I got on a call with Lethabo because we couldn’t find horns that represented what we what wanted to depict which was something very rough,
somewhat crafted for the ‘ages’ nothing
glamorous or flamboyant so as to
ensure that the model is the focal
point.” – King Nandi (Creative
Director).

“Now Stace’s look was a lil hiccup. I had made this combination of my fathers old ties which was supposed to be worn as a top but we turned it intoa skirt for Stace paired it with a gold pair of heels and she looked absolutely stunning.“ – Rachel Ihedigbo ( Fashion Design & Styling).
